March 6th and 7th - The Bohemians juggernaut (emissions free of course...) rumbled on with a one-nil win in Waterford. The only goal of the game came through Sam Todd who scored his first goal for the club. That's four wins from five for the league leaders whose only points dropped so far were in the opener at the Aviva. St Patricks Athletic picked up two wins this week - they followed up Monday's late win over Galway with a three-two win at Shelbourne. Similar to the game towards the end of the 2024 season, it looked like Stephen Kenny's side had coughed up the points when Shels came from two down to level. However, Max Mata picked the ideal time for his first goal for the Saints, heading home an injury time winner. The Saints are second in the table, three points off the lead. Shamrock Rovers bounced back from last week's derby defeat with a vital one-nil win over Derry City in Tallaght. Derry offered little throughout with their new keeper, Eddie Beach, keeping them level with some fine saves. However, Dylan Watts came off the bench to score a late penalty after Adam Brennan had been taken down in the box. A good result for Stephen Bradley in his 445th game in charge, passing the previous record held by Paddy Coad. Friday night's other game in the top division saw the points shared between Galway United and Dundalk. John Caulfield's side recovered from Gbemi Arubi's opener to lead two-one but Bobby Burns earned the Lilywhites a point - their fourth draw in five games so far... Sligo Rovers picked up their first win of the season on Saturday night - goals from Will Fitzgerald and Alex Nolan saw them beat Drogheda United two-one to move off the bottom of the table. In the first division, Cork City dropped points for the first time this season. Sean Maguire's fourth league goal of the season had them ahead in the Leeside Derby but Rhys Gourdie's second half penalty earned a point for Cobh Ramblers. Athlone Town and Bray Wanderers are just three points off the lead. They met at the Carlisle Grounds where the hosts recovered from a one-nil deficit to win two-one. Friday night's other games in the first division ended in draws. Treaty United scored their first goals of the season in a two-all draw at home to Kerry. Cian Curtis scored twice for the Limerick side in that one, including a last minute penalty. It also finished all square in Ballybofey where Finn Harps and Wexford shared the points after a one-all draw. There was another draw on Saturday night where the game between Longford Town and UCD finished scoreless. The point was enough to see the Students climb to second in the table, ahead of Bray Wanderers and Athlone on goal difference. An excellent score of 54 points from the week's games sees Jason Maloney lead the March competition. He has a one point lead over Joshua Coulahan with Donncha MacMaolain a point further back in third place - full details below: |

March 13th - Friday night ended with the Dublin sides occupying the top four places in the Premier Division. On the basis of what we've seen so far this season, it would be difficult to see any other outcome at the end of the season. Bohemians left it very late to beat Galway United - former Galwegian, Pat Hickey, headed home an injury time winner to maintain the Gypsies three point lead at the top of the table. It's four wins on the spin for St Patrick's Athletic who came from a goal down to beat Drogheda United four-one. Tomas Oluwa opened the scoring for the visitors but goals from Edmondson, Keena, Leavy and Palmer gave Stephen Kenny's side the three points. Mark Doyle's missed penalty against his former side at one-all proved crucial in that one. A good week on the road for Shamrock Rovers saw them pick up four points and maintain third place. They came from two down to earn a point at Shelbourne on Monday night and then won two-nil at Sligo on Friday night. The Showgrounds hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Stephen Bradley's side in recent times but goals from Matt Healy and Danny Grant gave the Hoops all three points despite a red card for Pico Lopes in the second half. Shelbourne are fourth in the table - they won two-one in Derry to turn the pressure up a notch on Tiernan Lynch. Despite a number of high profile signings, his side are already nine points behind the leaders despite having played five of their six games at home. The final game in the top division on Friday night saw Dundalk pick up their first win of the season - Eoin Kenny notched a double as Waterford were beaten five-nil in Oriel Park. The Lilywhites win was marred by a serious injury to Conor Kearns though. Waterford are bottom of the table with just two points from six games so far. Cork City remain three points clear at the top of the first division. They needed a late winner from Charlie Lyons to get past a stubborn Longford Town who looked like they might leave Turners Cross with a points after Sean Maguire's opener was cancelled out by Stefan Ugbesia. Athlone Town beat Cobh Ramblers two-nil to stay in second place. They're level on points with Bray Wanderers who came out on top in the N11 Derby - goals from Ben McCormack and Richard Ferizaj gave Paul Heffernan's side another win. Elsewhere, the other two games in the division finished in draws. Finn Harps came from two down to deny Treaty United a first win of the season. Wexford needed a Mikey Rowe equaliser to earn a point at home to Kerry. It's a second week at the top of the March leaderboard for Jason Maloney who now has 111 points. He has a six point lead over Robert Gaffney in second place with Cillian O'Reilly five points further back in third. The top five for the month so far is completed by Joshua Coulahan and Alan O'Brien - full details below: |

March 16th to 21st - Two draws this week slowed down Bohemians' title charge. There was more drama before the game on Monday night in Tolka Park where the players and backroom staff squared up to each other ahead of a nil-all draw between Shelbourne and Bohs. Dundalk then came to Dalymount and left with a point after a one-all draw on Friday night. Pat Hickey's opener was cancelled out by an own goal by Bohs' keeper Chorazka. Dundalk are quickly turning into the division's draw specialists having drawn five of their eight games so far. St Patricks Athletic remain second in the table, just two points behind the leaders. A nil-all draw at home to Derry on Monday night was followed by a two-nil win in Waterford on Friday. The Blues are rooted to the bottom of the table after also suffering defeat in Galway on Monday night - that game ending four-three to the hosts. Shamrock Rovers are going along nicely in third place, a point further back. Their draw in Drogheda on Monday night was the third nil-all of the evening. The Hoops got back to winning ways on Friday night - goals from Danny Grant (9/1 first scorer, nice one) and Aaron Greene gave the champions a two-nil win at home to Galway. Shelbourne won one-nil in Sligo on Saturday evening to maintain the Dublin one-two-three-four at the top of the table. Daniel Kelly scored the only goal at the Showgrounds. The pressure continues to mount on Derry City and Tiernan Lynch. They surrendered a two-nil lead at home to Drogheda on Friday night. That draw leaves them nine points behind the leaders already having played six of their eight games so far at home. A one-nil win at UCD courtesy of Cillian Murphy's (not that one) goal leaves Cork City five points clear at the top of the table. Bray Wanderers looked to heading towards victory in Cobh but a late penalty from Jason Abbott saw the points shared. Treaty United picked up their first win of the season, beating Athlone Town two-nil. Longford also picked up their first win of the season - they beat Wexford two-nil in Bishopsgate on Saturday night. Kerry are off the mark too - their first win of the season came at home to Finn Harps - Cian Murphy scoring the only goal at Mounthawk Park. No change in the top three for March after this week's games - Jason Maloney has an eight point lead with just five games in the first division to play next weekend. Robert Gaffney and Cillian O'Reilly remain in second and third place respectively. Special mention this week to Tommy Hamill who scored eighty points this week to climb to fourth - his points tally from Friday night's games included four ten-pointers. Full details below: |

March 26th and 27th - This weekend's action comprised just five first division games. Cork City continued on their merry way with a four-one win at home to Athlone Town. The surprising aspect of that result was that Sean Maguire didn't add to his goals total - Ruairi Keating and Hans Mpongo were among the scorers though as the Leesiders went five points clear at the top. Bray Wanderers lead the chasing pack - the Seasiders had to come from behind to beat Kerry two-one in the Carlisle Grounds. Goals from Ben McCormack and Ryan Kelly gave Paul Heffernan's side a fourth win of the season. UCD scored four without reply at home to Cobh Ramblers to climb to third in the table. The Students moved ahead of Athlone Town on goal difference. There was plenty of drama in Ferrycarrig Park as Wexford beat Treaty United three-two. Both sides missed a penalty in that one, Cian Curtis missing one against his former side. Finn Harps were the only away side to win in the first division this weekend - Joel Bradley-Walsh scored the only goal in their one-nil victory away to Longford Town on Saturday night. It looks like Jason Maloney is our second monthly winner of the season. He leads Robert Gaffney by eleven points with Cillian O'Reilly a point further back. The only thing that could change the final standings for March is a late winner in the sack race - Robert has Jon Daly and Cillian has John Caulfield - unless one of those collects a P45 before Tuesday, Jason will win the monthly competition - full details below: |
