July 4th and 5th - A fourth win on the bounce means Derry City lead the chasing pack behind leaders Shamrock Rovers. Waterford were hit for seven at the Brandywell on Friday night as Tiernan Lynch's side moved to within nine points of the leaders. Liam Boyce bagged a hat-trick in that one - his mother Marlene must be very proud. Derry play twice now while Rovers are occupied in Europe - the gap could be down to just three points ahead of their visit to Tallaght in the first round of fixtures in August.

Stephen Bradley's side had to come from two down to earn a point in Sligo. Jad Hakiki fired John Russell's side into a two goal lead before Dan Cleary halved the deficit just before the break. Josh Honohan headed home the equaliser. The points ended up being shared with both sides missing chances to win it. Having not drawn all season, Bohemians have now drawn their last two. They left Richmond Park with a point after a scoreless draw. St Patricks Athletic left feeling a little hard done by after Simon Power had a goal incorrectly ruled out for offisde.

Joey O'Brien's first game in permanent charge of Shelbourne saw the champions win three-one at home to bottom side Cork City. Things went from bad to worse for the Leesiders when their captain was sent off too. Drogheda United remain in fourth place - they beat Galway United one-nil in Sullivan and Lambe Park.

In the first division, the top three all recorded victories. Dundalk won four-nil in Kerry with two injury time goals adding gloss to the scoreline in Mounthawk Park. Cobh Ramblers held on for a two-one win against bottom side Athlone. Cian Curtis scored the only goal against his former club Wexford as Bray Wanderers won one-nil at the Carlisle Grounds.

Treaty United were pegged back by Adam Brennan's late equaliser for the hosts at Belfield. Both sides remain four points clear of Wexford in the final two playoff places. The final game in the first division this weekend ended scoreless between Finn Harps and Longford Town.

A score of 66 points from the opening weekend sees Tommy Tormey take an early lead in the July monthly competition. He has a seven point cushion over Sean Judd in second place. Andy Dunne, Niall O'Donoghue and Eoghan Brophy complete the top five so far:

July 11th and 12th - Derry City's unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of an improving Sligo Rovers on Saturday night. Patrick McClean, a Derry native, opened the scoring for the hosts with Wilson Waweru adding a second in first half injury time. The Candystripes are now nine points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers. Bohemians moved back into second place with a three-nil win at home to Galway United. Douglas James-Taylor scored his first goal for the Phibsboro side with James Clarke adding two more. Bohs are eight points behind Rovers with a game in hand. That game in hand happens to be a trip to Derry in the next round of games. No doubt Stephen Bradley will be hoping for a draw in that one.

Cork City are eight points adrift at the bottom - they lost a Munster derby two-nil at Waterford. Sam Glenfield and Tommy Lonergan secured the bragging rights for the Blues. Things got ugly at the final whistle with Cork City fans, let's say, less than impressed with the current state of play at the Turners Cross club.

In the first division, Bray Wanderers did their best to open up the title race with a two-nil win over leaders Dundalk. Max Murphy and Danu Kinsella-Bishop scored for the Seasiders who closed the gap on the leaders to six points. A victory in Limerick would have seen Cobh Ramblers move to within a point of top spot but Treaty United beat the second placed side two-one - Mark Byrne scoring the winner inside the final five minutes in that one.

Elsewhere in the first division, UCD beat Finn Harps three-one to consolidate their playoff position. Both UCD and Treaty United are six points clear of Wexford who drew nil-all at home to Athlone Town. Saturday's game saw Longford Town climb to seventh in the table - they beat Kerry three-one at Bishopsgate.

Tommy Tormey continues to lead the July competition - with just eight games to go in a shortened month, he has a six point lead over Paul Callaghan. James Cooke and Francis Gilligan recorded good scores to climb into the top four. Full details below:

July 25th and 26th - Derry City and Bohemians shared the points (and the cuts and bruises) after an eventful night in Derry. While the so-called Ultras battled outside the ground, the game itself finished one-all. Dipo Akinyemi scored for the hosts before half-time with Ross Tierney levelling matters after the break. Neither team could find a winner after that. With all teams having now played the same number of games, Bohemians find themselves seven points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers with Derry City a point further back.

The crisis in Cork deepened as the hosts squandered a two goal lead against Sligo. John Russell's side scored three times in the final half hour to pick up an unlikely three points. Ger Nash's side are now eleven points behind their opponents. Sligo's revival might have a few teams looking over their shoulders - Galway United will be one of those - they lost four-two at home to Waterford. Two goals from the evergreen Padraig Amond saw him move onto twelve for the season. John Caulfield's side are just three clear of the relegation playoff position now.

In the first division, Dundalk came out on top by the odd goal in five against Wexford. Keith Ward's late goal proved to be the winner as the Lilywhites went six points clear. Billy O'Neill scored twice on Saturday evening as Bray Wanderers won two-one in Longford. That's five wins on the bounce in all competitions for the Wicklow side. Cobh Ramblers let a lead slip twice drawing two-all at Finn Harps. Both Cobh and Bray are now six points off the lead.

Elsewhere, Kerry finished with nine men as they lost three-nil at home to UCD. The Students have a nine point cushion inside the playoff zone after that win. Treaty United maintained their playoff push after they came from two goals down to earn a point at Athlone.

That late winner for Bray proved decisive in our monthly competition. It gave Paul Callaghan the five points to top the table for July. Tommy Tormey was leading until that point but has to settle for second place in the end. Francis Gilligan, Neil Walsh and Andy Dunne completed the top five for the month:
